Fundraising Campaign to Save Scott's Cape Evans Expedition Base
Matched Funding Challenge up to £1M
The expedition base associated with Sir Robert Falcon Scott's (Terra Nova) Expedition located at Cape Evans is under serious threat as a result of the unprecedented climatic conditions experienced over the past three seasons. Click here to read more about the threats facing the site.
In November 2006 the Trust launched a NZ$9M international appeal to save this important part of the world's heritage for future generations.
The fundraising campaign has been given a major boost as a result of a British charitable foundation's Matched Funding Challenge up to a maximum of £1 Million. The foundation has made a major grant to the project and is encouraging others to contribute through the matched funding challenge. That means every new donation secured is effectively doubled as a result of the foundation’s generous offer.
Donations for the Cape Evans project can be made via either the New Zealand AHT or United Kingdom AHT. If you are based in Britain and make a donation through UKAHT your donation may be eligible for Gift Aid.
The British foundation joins the UK Government (through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Foreign Commonwealth Office), the Irish Government and the Garfield Weston Foundation who have already given signficant donations to kick start the fundraising campaign.
However, we still need to raise more funds and we urgently need your financial support. With the matched funding challenge in place every dollar you donate is effectively doubled. Click here to donate to the project.
